First unveiled in 1932 and manufactured for only seven years, the hand wound, 17 jewelled 9.32 is arguably the most sought after of all Longines movements and among the most desirable Calibres by any house from this era. Longines were on an incredible high during the inter-war years, with an immense amount of celebrity endorsement and an achievement level in accuracy competitions that was second to none at this time. Count Zeppelin had flown around the world in an airship in 1929, two Longines chronometers being used for navigation purposes throughout this event. The fascinating multi-millionaire Howard Hughes repeated this same achievement, but by aeroplane, in 1938, proudly stating that the Longines wristwatch worn on his wrist had kept perfect time throughout.
